Bitcoin SV Undergoes Unplanned Ford
New York — The Bitcoin SV blockchain underwent and unplanned fork earlier this week after a software update to its wallet was released. The update increased the block size to 2 GB but at least 20% of the miners were running outdated software, continuing the old blockchain which is incompatible with the new one. The network also experienced trouble in processing a 200 MB block recently, resulting in several nodes dropping off of the network due to the high cost of operating a full node.
Bitcoin SV differentiates itself from the original Bitcoin by having exponentially larger blocks, 2 GB compared to 2MB. The roadmap calls for another SV blockchain increase next year.
