Blockstream Opens Mining Operation
Georgia — The Bitcoin development company Blockstream revealed yesterday that it had opened up Bitcoin mining facilities in Canada and Georgia. The facilities consume a combined 300 megawatts of electricity and have a hash rate potential of 10 exahashes. The operation will serve both Blockstream and a number of enterprise customers, including Fidelity and Reid Hoffman, the founder of LinkedIn.
Blockstream plans to open up the mining to smaller, independent Bitcoin clients in the future, and open a mining pool designed to support smaller miners.
